When you're gone 2015

by Eddie Choo Wen Yi

My field of interest are the traces we leave on everyday objects. I assume that every object has a memory and use this to show the significance of our daily routine. In this series entitled “When you’re gone” I employ the gesture of holding something in my hand to represent the relationship between myself and the things surrounding me. Material subtraction (carving) is used to produce the negative space of a touch that is no longer there. I vacuum pack the finished pieces to the enhance the image of the impression made on them.
